DeNora Getachew is the New York City Executive Director of Generation Citizen. She is an alumna of John Jay College and Fordham University School of Law. She is a lawyer by training who has advocated for structural and participatory reforms to our democracy, among other policy reforms.
DeNora cut her teeth working on local democracy and government reform at the New York City Council. She has extensive state and local policy experience, including most recently serving as Campaign Manager & Legislative Counsel at the Brennan Center for Justice.
DeNora has contributed to the New York Times’ City blog, Huffington Post, the Des Moines Register, Medium, Newsday, and Gotham Gazette. DeNora serves on the board of Planned Parenthood NYC Votes and the New York Junior League. She is a member of the Greater New York Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and the Metropolitan Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated.
